Madam C. J. Walker was born on December 23, 1867, on the same Delta, Louisiana plantation where her parents were slaves. Despite the challenges in her life, she transformed herself from an uneducated farm laborer and laundress into one of the twentieth century’s most successful, self-made women entrepreneurs. Mrs. Johnson will give a presentation on Madam C. J. Walker’s life as an entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist who became the first African American woman millionaire.
