"This Swirling Largesse," the latest book from Lindsborg poet Linda M. Lewis, has been described as a literary "tour de force" by the current Missouri poet laureate and a "wonderful book" by a past Kansas laureate. Lewis, a professor emerita of Bethany College, will read present a poetry reading at the Salina Public Library on Nov. 3. . .
"This Swirling Largesse" observes the changing scenes and seasons of Kansas, recalls an Oklahoma childhood on the farm, narrates the history of Lewis's great-great grandmother (a Choctaw bride who was forced to follow the Trail of Tears and settle in Indian Territory), and queries the many faces of human desire (for love, fame, conquest, transcendence). Lewis will read representative poems from each of the book's four sections. Following the reading, books will be available for purchase.
