Conflict Management – How to Disagree without the Drama
Conflict can derail projects, relationships, and personal and organizational growth. Learning how to manage conflict effectively can promote constructive debate and become a value-adding asset for any organization. Topics to be covered in the program include:
- The Five Conflict Styles
- The Assertiveness - Cooperativeness Continuum
- The 3-Way Framework of Diagnose, Defuse, Discuss
- Tools for Discussing Difficult Situations
Learning Objectives:
- Prepare students to recognize behaviors that constitute real conflict vs. respectful disagreement
- Equip students to learn basic success concepts in defusing destructive conflict
This workshop will be led by Dr. Lee Stuart. After three previous careers - as a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper journalist, a leader of innovative product and new business development initiatives with Hallmark Cards, and 12 years as president of a boutique management consulting firm – Dr. Lee C. Stuart is now an Assistant Professor of the Practice in KU’s School of Professional Studies.
An executive coach since 2003, Lee has assisted more than 400 professionals. He holds a professional coaching certification from the elite Newfield Network. He also holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Leadership Studies) from Capella University; a Master of Science in Journalism from the University of Kansas; and a Bachelor of Arts, Journalism and Mass Communications from Kansas State University.
