Long Island
by Colm Toibin
In 1976, Eilis Lacey, an Irish immigrant living on Long Island with her Italian American husband Tony and their extended family, struggles with feeling alone in a still-new country. Her life is upended when an Irishman arrives at her door, revealing his wife is pregnant with Tony’s child and threatening to leave the baby on Eilis’s doorstep.
