Begin to explore your family history in this instructional workshop. In the first half of the workshop, Mary Jane McIntire, President of the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society, will walk you through local resources provided by the SVGS and the library such as ancestry.com, newspaper archives, and the Kansas Historical Society. In the second half, Mary Jane and library staff will assist you in beginning your genealogy research. Come with the who, what, when, or where of a specific question about your family history to research during the second half of the workshop.

We recommend bringing a laptop to use for research during the class.

Mary Jane McIntire is the President of the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society and began genealogical research in 1974. She completed Brigham Young University’s family history course studies and has been a private researcher for over 20 years. She enjoys utilizing her experience to help others explore their pasts!
