Since 2025 is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, the winter quarter selections are anime films focused on the theme of living there during and after this event.
Six-year-old boy Gen Nakaoka lives happily with his family in Hiroshima, but after the summer of 1945, everything is about to change. A powerful statement against war, Barefoot Gen is a disturbing story about the effect of the atomic bomb on a boy's life and the lives of the Japanese people. This film is not rated and will be shown with Kanopy.
