Since 2025 is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, the winter quarter selections are anime films focused on the theme of living there during and after this event.
Three years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Gen, his mother Kimie, and his adopted brother Ryuta are scavenging for food and scrap metal to sell in the black market as Hiroshima, like the rest of Japan, struggles to rebuild following World War II, amid suffering from radiation sickness. This film is not rated and will be shown with Kanopy.
